3 things to consider before painting your bedroom.

Painting walls is a relatively inexpensive way to update the look of your bedroom. But before you head out to pick your favorite coor here are 3 things to consider.

1. Determine the direction of the windows of your bedroom.. How does the light effect the colors in the room? North facing rooms can let in soft light, dark colors look darker and light paint colors softer and south facing rooms get more light so darker colors will be brighter and lighter colors will make the room lighter.

2. Paint finish.... do you want satin, eggshell or semi gloss? The same color will look different in in different finishes. Paint stores usually have sample of the color in different finishes. The finish combined with the lighting in the room will determine the look and feel of the room.

3. Will the color coordinate with your existing furnishings? It is worth the money to have the paint store make samples of your paint choices and paint a section of your bedroom wall so you can see the paint in your bedroom. The wall color alongwith the colors of your furnishings should make a harmonious whole, an environment that pleases and nurtures you!
